Another Year for the Series
I’ve been on quite a roll where series are concerned. I finished two series and a trilogy: A.D. Chronicles series by Bodie and Brock Thoene, Eldentimber series by Shari L. Tapscott, and Fat Cat mystery trilogy by Janet Cantrell. I began and completed the Texas Women of Spirit series by Angela Castillo. While I thoroughly enjoyed all these books, my favorite is the Eldentimber series because they are fairy tales. They’re not fairy tale retellings, but unique tales in their own right.
I hope to keep the series vibe alive in 2019 by completing the Squire’s Tale series by Gerald Morris. It’s a ten-book series, and I’ve only read two, so we will see how it goes!
The book that left the greatest impression on me during 2018 was The Beguiled by Thomas Cullinan. After I read it, I immediately had to talk to my husband about it. Although he hadn’t read the book and had no interest in it, he patiently listened. I highly recommend this book, but don’t bother with either movie.
Favorite Book Club Selection
I am disappointed in the fact that I only read seven of the twelve book club selections this year. However, my favorite is The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood. I enjoy Atwood’s unique writing style. Oddly enough, I believe I was one of the few members to finish reading it.
My goal this year is read more book club selections to completion. I failed with January’s book, Hidden Figures, but I am determined to complete February’s Shackles: The Truth Will Set You Free.
Did you read any notable books in 2018? If so, share in the comments.
Until the next post . . . keep smiling!
