It’s the fourth day of May, and you know what that means: it’s Star Wars day! Yes, I’m a fan. I’ve always been a fan. I don’t exactly remember my introduction to Star Wars. As a child of the 80’s, I think it’s simply in my blood.
In honor of this momentous occasion, I’m going to list (imagine that; a list from the List Queen) five facts regarding Star Wars and me.
#1: I wanted to be Princess Leia. I mean, honestly, what girl didn’t? And the fact that now she’s a Disney princess makes her even cooler.

#2: I had a crush on Luke Skywalker. Again, what girl didn’t? But it’s kind of gross knowing that he is Leia’s brother and I wanted to be Leia.
#3: I don’t despise the prequels. I don’t LOVE them, but neither do I hate them.
#4: I like Jar Jar Binks. I am probably the only person to ever admit that, but I think he’s cool in a goofy, annoying way.
#5: I don’t care that Hans Solo shot first. He’s a smuggler, kind of a space pirate. He had bad aliens wanting to murder him. He was justified in shooting first.

The one thing that made me sad today? Only a handful of my one hundred twenty students have seen Star Wars. Most failed to see the big deal about today. The only response I have to that is . . .
