Earlier this week, I visited a local Barnes and Noble and purchased this
Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh ~ This one is my absolute favorite. I love the peaceful hues of blue, the swirls, and the pop of gold. It has a calming effect. I have a 36" by 24" print of this in my bedroom.
Rest at Harvest by William-Adolphe Bouguereau ~ This painting inspired my character Elise in my novel. I first discovered it at the Philbrook Art Museum in Tulsa.
Apollo and Marsyas by Bartolomeo Manfredi ~ I know it's gruesome, but I really like this painting. The expression on Marsyas' face as Apollo flays him is so . . . intriguing? I know; I'm a tad strange!
The Captive Charger by Karl Ferdinand Wimar ~ I am captivated by the vivid, apprehensive expressions on the subjects' faces. They know stealing the horse is wrong, and they expect to get caught. Totally intriguing!
Broadway Boogie Woogie by Piet Mondrian ~ Oh, goodness, this painting makes me happy! It exudes joy. Mondrian's style inspired me to try my own hand at artwork. Now, I am the farthest thing from a master, but I thoroughly enjoy painting abstract art.
Until the next post . . . keep smiling!
