For today’s Random Rambling, I return to the blog topic jar. The topic I selected is . . .
Ooh, I really like this one. But, I think I’m going to add a little to it and make it a list. Ha! Here goes:
A book you have wanted to read for a long time but still haven’t:
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak ~ I saw the movie trailer to this, discovered it was a book, and wanted to read the book before I watched the movie. I have it on my Kindle; it’s been there a while. There is no particular reason I haven’t read it.
Unless I am reading a book chosen by my book club or reading one for information, I’m a mood reader. I select a book that fits my mood. I guess I simply haven’t been in the mood to read this book yet. I have yet to see the movie as well.
A book you started but didn’t finish:
Daniel Deronda by George Eliot ~ I watched the BBC miniseries by the same title and LOVED it (I’ve actually seen it four times). But, when I began the novel, I made it halfway and couldn’t finish. The history part in the middle was really boring. I don’t believe I’ll ever return it.
A book that everyone else has read but you have not:
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green ~ I don’t know if everyone else has read it, but most of my students have. I read the first two pages, and that was quite enough. I may try again someday, but currently there are tons of books on my TBR list that are much more enticing than this one.
A book everyone else loved and you thought was mediocre:
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins ~ I loved the first book and enjoyed the sequel. Halfway through this book, I couldn’t care less what happened to Katniss, Peeta, and Gale.
A book you will never read:
Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James ~ Enough said.
Do you have a book you want to read and haven’t? A book you didn’t finish? One you refuse to read? Leave responses in the comments!
