People who are familiar with the Christian Bible recognize the names of prominent women within the pages: Eve, Sarah, Rebekah, Ruth, Esther, Mary, and Martha, just to name a few. Although the Bible definitely reveals more information about men of old than women, there are several female characters. However, many are overlooked. Do you know anything about Jael? How about Lydia? Dorcus?
I've had the idea to explore the lives of these little-known ladies for quite some time, but I withheld because I'm no Bible scholar. Then the thought occurred to me: I don't need to be a scholar to undertake this task. All I need is a Bible, research materials, and a brain. I possess all three.
Here's the plan: Over the next few Sundays (the exact number remains undecided at this time), I plan to write posts focusing on these women. I will relate the information I find in the Bible (the NKJV), interesting facts from other sources, and my opinions about each one.
I will begin next Sunday. Who will be the topic of my first post? You'll have to check back to find out!
Until the next post . . . keep smiling!
