Oops, I did it again! I'm behind on posting. It's the end of the quarter at school and grades must be submitted, so it's been a busy couple of days. Since I neglected to post on Friday, I'm combining Friday's Five Favorites and my recipe post into one.
Five Favorite Candies to Receive on Halloween
If I trick-or-treated (of course I don't), these are the five candies I would hope to find in my plastic pumpkin carrier:
M&M's (the plain ones): Naturally. They're my favorite candy.
Three Musketeers: Another favorite. I prefer the full-size bars, but bite-size is yummy as well.
Milky Way Dark: This is the only time I prefer the "dark side." These are better than the original Milky Way.
Caramel Apple Twizzlers: I can only find them in the autumn, and they are my absolute favorite Twizzler.
Big Gummy Life Saver Rings: I'd forgotten how much I enjoy these until I found them in the mixed bag of candy we purchased to pass out to trick-or-treaters. (I may or may not have eaten one or two. Or ten.)
An Author Cooks: My Homemade (Bean-less) Chili
Now that it's officially autumn and the weather is cooler, it's time to break out the hoodies, sweaters, and soup recipes. One recipe I make frequently is my homemade chili. Neither Sean nor I like beans, so my recipe is the bean-less variety.
~ onion powder, crushed red pepper, and chili powder to taste (I use A LOT!)
Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, seasoning with onion powder, crushed red pepper, and chili powder.
Drain grease. Transfer beef to a 4-quart sauce pan.
Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, onion and chili powders.
Simmer over low heat until chili comes to a low boil.
I like to serve mine with either peanut butter and honey sandwiches or corn muffins. Enjoy!
Until the next post . . . keep smiling.
