The last few years the Syfy channel ran an Independence Day marathon of the Twilight Zone, the sci-fi show from the ‘50’s. As a huge fan of the show, this was something to which I looked forward. Regardless of what my husband and I had planned, the television stayed tuned to the channel for most of the day. That familiar theme song has become synonymous with fireworks and barbecues.
This year, my husband and I severed ties with our cable provider, opting for the streaming route for our entertainment. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the switch, watching exactly what we want when we want it and paying considerably less. However, as the Independence holiday approached, I began to wonder, “What I am going to do about my Twilight Zone marathon?” It simply wouldn’t seem right without it.
Fortunately, Netflix and Amazon carry four seasons of the beloved show, and I am one happy celebrator. So, amidst the barbeque we have planned today with our families and the fireworks we plan to watch this evening, our television will once again blare that eerie music. And all will be well this Independence Day as we celebrate . . . in the Twilight Zone.
